Solar Photovoltaic (PV) means electricity obtained from sunlight. Panels are fitted on the roof in a northerly direction and at an angle in order to maximize the amount of sunlight to hit the panels.
They are installed on the roofs of different types - residential and commercial buildings in order to generate clean electricity by converting sunlight into energy. The modules of specially fabricated materials that make up the solar panels convert the light that falls on them into electric energy.
In most cases solar panels are connected to the main power supply through a device called an inverter. Across Australia there are more than 1 million solar panel systems which deliver clean electricity, safely and reliably.
